Ryan Kisiel joins Maitland/AMO from HSBC and becomes Head of Sustain
London based Maitland/AMO, part of the AMO international network of strategic communications agencies, has appointed Ryan Kisiel as its new Head of Sustain, the firm’s dedicated sustainability practice.
Ryan joins from HSBC where he helped to launch the bank’s global net zero commitments and led on sustainable finance media relations, working in close collaboration with their extensive corporate client base. He has previously worked at the Department for Work and Pensions and was a news reporter for the Daily Mail for over seven years.
Sustain has been one of Maitland/AMO’s fastest growing practice areas. Launched in 2018 following huge client demand for ESG-related advice and services – including ESG report drafting, sustainability consultancy and materiality assessments – it has attracted clients from a broad range of sectors, such as financial services and retail. Earlier this year Sustain also took on a major new mandate for the UK’s leading environmental and social consultancy and net zero certification body Planet Mark.
Commenting, Neil Bennett, CEO, said: “Ryan has the perfect mix of skills and experience for our growing Sustain practice. He has a strong media background but has also been front and centre over many years of the corporate world’s ambitions to become more sustainable. Working with his Sustain team and communications specialists from across the firm, we are excited about the new services and insight we will be able to share with clients and other organisations.”
Ryan Kisiel added: “Maitland/AMO was an early mover in creating a dedicated sustainability practice and I have been enthusiastically watching it grow. I’m hugely impressed by the work it is doing to support firms in their transition to net zero and with transparent ESG reporting, and I look forward to building on this in the years ahead.”
Steve Malkin, CEO of Planet Mark, said: “We chose Maitland/AMO Sustain’s team because of its knowledge and passion about sustainability, and their deep experience engaging with key journalists. Their understanding of today’s big environmental and social issues, and the importance of communication in spreading the net zero message, means they can represent our brand with confidence and trust.
“Sustain has done some excellent work for us since we launched our Zero Carbon Tour running up to COP26, offering us major new media platforms from which to champion cutting carbon emissions amongst UK businesses. We are excited about our future collaboration beyond our many engagements at COP26 in Glasgow and building on this early success.”
Ryan Kisiel has completed the Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme at Said Business School, Oxford University. He also attended King’s College London and has a degree in History.
